What Home Means to Me
Property Manager’s Instructions
As part of NAHRO’s Housing America’s campaign, a poster contest is held each year for children residing in affordable housing and community development owned or administered sites. The theme this year is “What Home Means to Me”
Contest participation is open to all children residing in affordable housing assisted directly or supported under community development and affordable housing programs, i.e. public or Section 8 assisted housing, CDBG, HOME, LIHTC or Farmers Home. See the page which outlines Entry Rules & Selection that should be handed out to the children participating in contest.
Submission deadline to you is August 4, 2020. Please make sure each poster has their name, age and address written on the back. Posters without their name, age and address clearly written in pencil on the back will not be judged. Also each contestant must sign a release making their entry the property of DE NAHRO and NAHRO and permitting duplication/publication thereof. Asigned Photo Release form, All contestants are asked to provide a narrative (100 words or less) on the inspiration, vision and importance of their poster design. Please make sure that all three of these forms are completed and stapled to the poster. All Forms are in packet and can be downloaded by clicking 2020 Poster Contest.
Submission of Posters to DE NAHRO
All posters, narrative and application/release forms must be submitted to DE NAHRO by August 7th. Please check that all forms are completed including the Property Information at the bottom of the application/release form. Posters can be delivered to the following locations:

Posters can be sent UPS/FedEx to Brandy Nauman at the Sussex County address or be picked up by calling Brandy Nauman at 302-855-7779

Entry Rules
- Theme – “What Home Means to Me”
- Size Paper – 8 1/2″ by 11″ or larger
- Media – Contestant may use any art media such as marker, crayon, paint, collage, or colored pencils. (Please consider that posters will need to be packaged, mailed, and reproduced when selecting media)
- All contestants must sign a release making their entry the property of DE NAHRO and NAHRO and permitting duplication/publication thereof. Form is attached.
- All contestants must write an essay (100 words or less) about their poster. Form is attached.
- All Posters must be submitted to their Apartment Property Manager by August 4, 2020 with name, age and address written in pencil on the back of the Poster.
Eligibility & Selection
Top 3 winners in each age category will be recognized.
- 1st Place – $100 gift card, blue ribbon
- 2nd Place – $50 gift card and red ribbon
- 3rd Place – $25 gift card and yellow ribbon
- All contestants will receive a certificate of participation

Conditions of Submission:
Applicant and parent or guardian understand and agree that upon submission of the applicant’s poster, the poster will become the sole property of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) and the Delaware Chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (DE NAHRO). NAHRO and DE NAHRO shall have exclusive and full rights to copy, reproduce and distribute the poster in connection with its poster calendar and may retain the original of any poster. Posters will not be returned to applicant or Parent/Guardian. Applicant, and parent or guardian, for and on behalf of applicant, hereby release and discharge NAHRO and DE NAHRO and any and all Regional Councils, State Chapters or other affiliates of NAHRO from any and all liabilities, suits, claims or actions, including without limitation any claim to payment or compensation, in connection with NAHRO or DE NAHRO’s possession, use, copying, reproduction, and/or distribution of the applicant’s poster.
By signing this application/release below, applicant, and any parent of guardian signing on applicant’s behalf, hereby indicate agreement to the conditions stated above. Any person signing as guardian further represents that he or she is fully and lawfully empowered to act as guardian for the applicant.
